About This Work

Material: Wood.( absolutely the whole shape is carved wood) In thefront side of the sculpture, technically, it has been used a traditional method to turn the wood into gold (gilding). A traditional carving, with ornaments emblematic for 16-18 century, is transforming into something modern.... electronic connections, the integral part of the chip. All this is in a contrast and the same time strange harmony with the colorful back part, which is the splash caused by the fall of Icarus. The brief description of the idea is: The front part works as a monument of the dead or just sleeping Icarus. The use of atraditional ornaments is there to increase his mythological value, butconnecting that with the current world of technologies is also a part of the concept..The fall should be accepted as a fall through a different cultural periods and societies. The colors of the splashed liquid are the same vivid as the ones of the internet world, and thats the final destination of Icarus. His face is the face of the artist, so it could also be read as a self-portrait work.
