Artist Statement:
I am a representational painter. I work with a wide variety of subject matter, from still life, to landscape, to portraiture. Within these traditional genres, I explore aspects of the subject that strike me as meaningful and relevant. It is the expressive qualities of the subject that draw me to it, and that I want the viewer to connect with in my work.
The process of painting is fascinating to me, and I leave evidence of that process in my finished pieces. Gestural brushwork, textured areas created with a palette knife, and layers of bold color are evident in my finished pieces.
