'I am fascinated by the power of marks and the huge richness & complexity to be found within the
creative process. For me it is a balancing act of instinct, intuition and conscious decision making. It is an amazing dialogue which reveals deeper insights and broadens ideas. It reveals aspects of what it means to be human. The starting point for much of my recent work is rooted in the idea of structure - the bones around which things grow - or the thing that holds everything down. I wanted to describe something very solid and tangible whilst also suggesting fleeting emotional complexities and nuances. Transforming these ideas through print making techniques has been a fantastic journey into bold statement, mark making and texture.'

Artistic Influences:
When I first saw the work of abstract expressionists such as Robert Motherwell,Franz Kline & Willem De Kooning it seemed to bristle with energy & rhythm and had a real kind of honesty about it. I also saw this in artists such as Tapies & Cy Twombly. Their paintings have a life and power of their own.. they make me want to create. Influences are wide and varied but these artists laid the foundation from which my
ideas began to grow.
ideas began to grow.
