| Artist Statement: | My artistic journey has been a life-long commitment. A father photographer and mother painter put me on the creative path early in life while growing up in West Nyack, New York. After beginning my adult life as a painter, i enrolled in the Art Students League of New York and studied abstract painting under the Abstract Expressionist Richard Pousette-Dart. I went on to earn a BFA from the College of Santa Fe and a MFA from the University of Colorado. Today, I work simultaneously as a painter and photographer. My investigation is equally excited by light and space as well as object. I believe there is always more to "see" than first meets the eye. Through my constant love of the process of making art, I seek to shift my awareness towards greater insight into the natural world around me. I'm influenced by forests, fields, gardens, bramble, brush, brooks and the change of seasons. |
