Description

A seascape in oil on canvas, this painting is a study of the effects of nature - light, air, water, atmosphere and mood. It is from a series of paintings I began during the summer while staying at the beach near Brodau on the coast of the Baltic Sea in Germany, and is influenced by the works of James McNeill Whistler and Gustave Courbet, among others. It is realist but spontaneous, and free, so as to capture the fleeting moments, the interplay between light and air, and the relationship of these elements with water. The painting is unframed so as to allow the art buyer to frame it. I wish I didn't have to sell this painting (I never want to sell the paintings I like) but I am an artist and artists must sell their paintings to buy more oil and canvas, and continue painting... continue the quest for nature's mood and nature's great moment - the interplay of elements and light. |
