In Milan Kundera’s 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being', Sabine asserts that "before beauty disappears entirely from the earth, it will go on existing for a while by mistake. 'Beauty by mistake'—the final phrase in the history of beauty."
I want to provoke positive physical and emotional responses in my viewers. I do not desire to make any statement within the work itself beyond what is explicitly contained within color, form and line. I have no interest in politics, intellectualism or social issues. There are far more appropriate media for these.
I make paintings because I believe the job of the artist should be the perpetuation of purposeful beauty in an increasingly ugly world.
