Artist Statement:
I am a Syrian artist who witnessed firsthand the casualties of the Syrian Civil War. I use my artwork to capture the immense emotions felt while living in war-torn Syria.
I graduated from the Painting and Drawing Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Tishreen University in Latakia, Syria, in 2018. I currently live and work in Bay area, California.
My artwork incorporates Figurativism and Expressionism with an abstract tone, aiming to convey emotions through my art. I explore the human form in search of a new perspective on its beauty. Even in moments of sadness and pain, there is always hope. I utilize Oil and Acrylic colors, and occasionally Silver leaf sheets. The use of Black and White colors in my work highlights the contrast of emotions and themes in my paintings. White symbolizes innocence, hope, and peace, while black represents despair, destruction, and oppression. Each brushstroke enhances the painting's meaning, adds dimension, showcases the beauty of color values, and brings emotions to life in my artwork. My focus has always been on emotional content rather than narratives.
