About This Work

The sea is a dynamic living space. It is in a constant state of change. The ongoing pulsating movements mean progress and regress at the same time. It is an effortless wipe clean in balance, like a feel of a self healing. For humans the sea is the easiest experience of sheer power of nature. In the Mingary series I show it as a quiet place to condense the subject matter. Furthermore the subject matter is reduced to Time and Light. The sea provides me with an open space. "…only when emptiness is created would the true and genuine reality be generated" Lui Shou-Kwan. Though there is nothingness, it is yet full of complex content. The light, the mist at the horizon, the cloud formations are informative, speaking of the different ways in which nature can be seen. I am allowing weather, time, light to converse into ever-new images. The result is a build-up of elements that resist quick and easy decipherment. We are surrounded by nature but can only see a fraction of it. Printed on 10mm ultra gloss acrylic, backed with laminate and aluminium bars for hanging.
