Artist Statement:
Sergio Aranda - 1971 -
I was born and raised in Switzerland, in the beautiful region of Neuchâtel next to the French border.
My mom and dad are from Barcelona, Spain. I have spent most of my life living in Geneva, Barcelona, Madrid and today I live and work in the beautiful city of Paris
I am a jewelry designer and visual artist, lover of art in all its forms. I am passionate about "Urbex": the degradation of materials which is the common thread in my work and in all of my collections.
*
ARTISTIC APPROACH
Abstract and contemporary art are modern styles that oppose realism and therefore my other profession creating jewelry. Thus, we must use the imagination and understanding beyond what logic gives us to admire a painting or a work. Focus in expressive force in shapes and colors.
*
My work is a decorative painting, made with acrylics and mixed media, which finds its originality in the multiple interactions between the different textures and its color palette. A painting strongly influenced by my travels in places specific to Urbex enthusiasts, as well as most of the big cities of the world. From which is born my painting, Industrial and contemporary style with effects of rust, damaged materials, broken, aged, burnt, etc. or still others of ornamental styles such as worn tapestry. But all share the same idea of material degradation.
*
Structure, strength, texture and contrasts allow each work to release its depth and become a pictorial "jewel". Open your mind, listen with the pupils. Abstract and contemporary art are a meeting with the senses.
