Artist Statement:
Through the years I have worked with a variety of techniques, media and kinds of paint. From acrylics to oils and wax and from pastels to plaster and charcoal, each series of paintings demands a certain approach that encompasses a combination of processes. I usually work in consequent layers of colour and texture and on many different paintings simultaneously, in pursuance of creating visual and spatial relationships.
Whether I paint figures or landscapes, my goal is to articulate a presence, to create a narrative space that will allow for the exploration of movement and rhythm, depicting the ephemerality, fluidity and volatility of life.
I consider myself lucky for I can make a profession out of my passion for colour and paint. I studied painting, photography and applied arts in my native Greece and England, before relocating to Montreal, Canada in 2002. I now hold a Master’s degree of Fine Arts in Studio Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Print Media from Concordia University. Since 1995 I have been participating in solo and group exhibitions, and my work is part of collections across Europe and North America.
