| Artist Statement: | I was blessed with dear parents, who were very well-educated, talented engineers who had to live in the Northern Mountains of China on the edge of Siberia. After my father’s early death, my mother determined to focus all her energies to send her three children to university -- the only way for us to leave the mountains at that time. Her dreams were accomplished with incredible sacrifice, but also great success. My brother and sister are architect/engineers, while I am the artist in the family. Since leaving the mountain and wild flowers, I have moved to several major cities looking for a modern, fulfilling artistic life. During my search from city to city and then country to country, I realized that the only thing I have really gotten is a long line of footprints behind me, which have become part of my life on this one-way trip. I saw how short life is and how easy to lose at my very early age. I experienced deeply sorrow and stress, but also courage, tenacity and hopeness from my family...... such a beauty ..... even today I am still very easy to tear for the rhythm of lives. I use Paint knives and Oil to lick into shape, that give 'painterly' and bold visual feeling which like running freely. It is an imagination of the beauty and its energy, which I grown up with...... I love where I came from and where I am going. I love to paint and write about what is pure, true and powerful in my life. |
