| Artist Statement: | ‘Lifelong Passion’ is the only phrase I can use to describe how I feel about art. At the tender age of two my mother, relentlessly putting a pencil in my hand, encouraged me, “draw until I can tell what it is.” From that time until now, I have followed her admonition; I feel driven, on a quest to create something clear and divine, something better than before. My work is progressive, each piece is a stepping stone, elevating further to a purer expression of what I perceive and feel. I find that all art begins with the eye. The things we see affect the way we feel. My work is the result of those sights and feelings passed through my hand and onto the canvas. As a realist, the world around me has always been my teacher and model. Whether it is the texture of an orange, the light of the morning or the shape of the human form, there is a divine beauty all around us and I perceive it in the mundane and the striking. It is my purpose to share my perception of the world with others so that it might mingle with theirs. |
