| Artist Statement: | Creating a beyond visual experience! My primary desire is to establish a contemplative dialog beyond the two dimensional picture plane and engender a fluid discourse between a work’s intent and the viewers perceptions. I endeavor to create thoughtful images of stimulating content, proportional harmony, and vivid color balance, while translating compelling sensations of inspired tension and release to the work. My subjects are a distillation of personally relevant ideas, reactions, perceptions, and influences. An enigmatic melding of physical sensitivities and subconscious energies forms the “graphic shorthand” I use to visually expand and refine my creative impulses. To accurately project my vision, I use "pre-visualization"…. guided by this internal “road map”, I strive to reveal each work’s essence…. so that Lines, Shapes, and Colors, can be felt as much as seen, coalescing the dynamics of the creative pull I feel. METHODOLOGY Fine Arts Education and Experimental Explorations for many years allow me to skillfully manipulate the natural properties of Fluid Viscosity. I use these dynamic “push-pull” effects to enhance dimensional drama and heighten tactile surface qualities. During the execution of each new work, I often make impulsive additions, sparks of intuitive spontaneity, capturing the creative “magic” of each progressive discovery. Most of my paintings require many painstaking hours of carefully applied applications, working layer upon layer in varying combinations, of Oil Paints & Pastels, Acrylic Paints, Metallics, Gouache, Prisma Pencils, Soft Pastels, and Watercolors to accomplish exceptionally vibrant Mixed Media effects. The mediums I use in this manner, are most unforgiving of any reworking, requiring a clear " pre-visualization "..… seeing through my mind's eye, to reveal the essence of the finished piece. This is truly, the single most important part of my total creative process. All contributed content copyright © 2009-2012 Rich Moyers |
