| Artist Statement: | I became interested in abstract photographic images during my college years at the University of Oregon in Eugene. The influence of Bernard Freemesser and Brett Weston permeated the learning experience. My very first abstract images were captured at Allstate Wrecking in Eugene. Allstate was a mecca for all University of Oregon fine art photography classes. Both Freemesser and Weston spent time making images taking advantage of the rich visual experience that was Allstate. Allstate has long since disappeared, however, I continue to locate wrecking yards to explore and make abstracts. I also seek out architecture and natural areas to abstract as well. My passion for creating artistic photographic images continues today more than 30 years after those rich educational experiences at the University of Oregon. |
