| Artist Statement: | My paintings are about me. They are about you. They refer to this. They refer to that. They are autobiographical. They are sociological. They are stories about the world I live in…the world you live in…the world she lives in. They are studies. They are ridiculous. They are specific. They are glimpses into stories I have made up. Into stories I am in. Into a story I want to live in – for a while – all the time – some day – never again. The words I use are phrases. They are poems. They run through me. They are non-linear. They are completely incomplete. They are things I hear in my daily life. Things I think I hear. Things I wish I could hear. Things I never wanted to hear. They make piles in my head – in my notes – ready to make an appearance. The space between you and me is a shape. A block of color. A vision bold and strong and saturated. Flat collaged spaces next to each other -- on top of each other -- cut out of each other. Humor is one of the most important parts of life for me. If I can make you laugh I feel I have succeeded on some level. If I can make you laugh and make you curious that is enough for me. |
