| Artist Statement: | my working career began in fashion design. years spent in new york working for calvin klein and ralph lauren were exciting and exhausting. in slivers of free time i loved to paint in my tiny apartment. minimal, abstract ideas that had nothing to do with trends or seasons or runway or seam construction. i relished the freedom. now with little ones, a music-man husband and a quiet life in nashville, tn, i'm still enjoying the creative release that creating new work provides. i use intuition and my years in art and fashion to guide my visual choices. my intention in art is less about what a finished piece makes the viewer see and more about what it makes one feel. i believe my work is a vehicle for making human contact. i believe emotions get mixed in the paint and absorbed in the canvas and are forever ingrained in the work. |
