Artist Statement: I love the paintings by the Dutch and Flemish old masters. I strive to capture a like richness of realistic form, believable textures, and rich vibrant color in my work, all the while working to maintain the luminous transparency that is so beautiful in the watercolor medium.

I also love the compositions of Italian Renaissance paintings, the way in which those artists juxtaposed organically shaped figures against a geometric and structured environment. I enjoy contrasting the texture and color of the subjects in my work with the shape and color of the empty spaces in the picture.

As I aspire to follow the inspirational pathways I find in these past influences, I remain committed to creating images that remain contemporary in their feeling and arrangement. My work contains a range of ideas and themes that I hope highlight the positive aspects and beauty of everyday life.
