One of my absolute favorites, this painting resulted from setting up a cardboard box lined with black paper and an artichoke carefully placed inside. I aimed a spotlight and took several photos. Totally surprised by the outcome, and somewhat of a romantic, I had to paint it and paint as if I were back in time. I purchased my first gesso board, and it was this painting that I learned to paint differently as the board posessed characteristics unlike the canvases I was accustomed to.
