In my latest series, I am working alla prima, so that the painting may be started and finished in one painting session, while the paint is still wet. It lends a freshness to the work, both in terms of visual ideas and in the flow and interaction of the oil paint. I especially love the soft, melon-like palette I achieved in this painting, and the goofy characters popping in and interacting with or remaining aloof from the other characters. Everyone has their role. |
