Portland Launch Party

On Thursday evening May 7th, over 150 people turned out for a great evening of art, food, drink, and music in support of local artists, to learn more about Zatista.com, and to help us celebrate the public launch of the site.

The party was hosted in the Addo Novo Home space on York Street in Portland, Maine. In case you didn’t know, the arts scene in Portland is thriving and we are thrilled to have a strong local connection. Local Zatista representatives Todd Bernard and Aaron Frederick helped bring together a fantastic mix of artists, galleries, and collectors. After spending time talking to everyone throughout the evening, I am even more excited about the opportunity that Zatista provides for both artists, galleries, and art buyers in today’s environment.

Special thanks for a fantastic event go out to Addo Novo, Maine Mead Works, and Aurora Provisions.

As Requested, More Information

As word spreads about Zatista, we have received steadily growing requests to learn more about the site and the company. Seems that during all our hard work to prepare the site for the full beta launch (buyers and sellers) we left out some key information like who we are, how the company came to be, and more.

We are pleased let you know that we have updated the site to include some of this information. Just take a look at the bottom of the home page and you will find links to learn about the company, the team, as well as some frequently asked questions.

We’re also pleased to announce the more formal unveiling of the blog. Make sure to use the links to the right to subscribe. Whenever we have something new to share with you, we’ll make sure to get it up on the blog. Additionally, we have formed a Facebook group where we will make sure and share news and information.

Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks!

What Can Be Bought and Sold on Zatista?

Zatista is being created as a destination where art buyers can find truly original works of art, as well as special limited and signed editions of “re-produceable” pieces. There are plenty of sites out there to buy prints created in unlimited numbers in the hundreds and thousands, but we aim to provide buyers with one-of-a-kind and truly unique works created by amazing artists.
In terms of the type of art you might find on Zatista, we are limiting it at this point to original fine and contemporary art, and photography. In general terms Zatista is focused on art for one’s wall.
Photography, digital works, woodcuts, and lithographs, as well as other works created in a format designed for reproduction are the exception to this rule. Reproduced items in this group are limited to 100 signed, and numbered prints from any single original image.

Some items which may not currently be listed include: jewelry, sculpture, knitted items, furniture & lighting, pottery & ceramics, clothing, blown glass, and quilts.
When considering the style of art on Zatista, we are working hard to make sure we have a wide range of styles and types, so there will be something for everyone who comes to the site.  From the novice buyer to the experienced collector, Zatista will be a premier destination to find, explore, and buy amazing original art.
